The Inspiration Behind In My Red Era
When we started designing In My Red Era, I kept coming back to the way music feels when it becomes a memory. I wanted this candle to hold that feeling — to be more than something you light, but something you step into.
A Scent Story: Lavender and Sandalwood
The scent began with lavender — soft, romantic, a little hazy — and then it was grounded with sandalwood. Not because I wanted it to smell like a Christmas tree, but because sandalwood has this rooted, earthy warmth. It’s the kind of scent that steadies you, the way growing up close to the land might.
Taylor Swift’s childhood on a Christmas tree farm came to mind, and I loved that connection — not literal, but emotional. The lavender takes you up into a dreamy haze, and the sandalwood brings you home again.
Designing the Red Era Candle
For the design, we couldn’t get the image of a red cassette tape out of our heads. It felt vintage and personal, like passing a favorite album to a friend. We added jewel-toned dots to make it feel alive — like stadium lights flashing during the chorus of a song you’ve been waiting all night to hear.
And the palette? Scarlet, blush, gold — it had to burn with the same passion and bittersweet beauty as the Red Era itself.
A Tribute to Connection
And then there are the beads. If you’ve ever been to the Eras Tour, you know. They’re a tiny tribute to the friendship bracelets that travel from hand to hand, a quiet symbol of connection and joy.
More Than a Candle — A Memory
When you hold this candle, you’re holding all of that — the music, the crowd, the memory of a night you’ll never forget. And when you light it, you get to step back into that moment, anytime you want.
